How do I change the password used to access Fox Market Wire, provided by Thomson Investors Network?
Enter the "Help" area of our
site, click on "Account Management" and follow the instructions for changing
your password.
What should I do if I experience problems with my
browser crashing or freezing?
Fox Market Wire was developed with the latest
web technology, including Java and HTML 3.2 coding. If you are using a browser released
before Netscape 3.01
or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0,
you may experience technical difficulties. It is recommended that you download the latest
version of either of these browsers to minimize the risk of technical problems.
On occasion, when trying to print from Netscape and
Internet Explorer I receive a message that says "there are no pages to print"
even though there is text on the screen. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?
This occurs when an incompatibility exists between the
browser and the technology used to create the page. While there is no way for you to
prevent this from happening, you can print the page by clicking on an area of the page and
selecting "print" again from the browser toolbar.
Why does my browser respond "transfer
interrupted" when I try to access a report, chart or TipSheet?
This is a bug with Netscape 3.0. Clicking the
"reload" button from your browser's toolbar will clear the "transfer
interrupted" message and display the information you requested. To avoid this problem
we recommend you download Netscape
(3.01 or higher) or Microsoft
Internet Explorer (3.0 or higher).
What is a cache?
Cache is your browser's temporary storage system, or
temporary memory. Designed to reduce network traffic and speed performance each time a WWW
page is requested your browser looks to see if it is already present in your cache. If it
is not, the page requested is retrieved and stored in your cache. The next time this page
is requested, it will be retrieved from your cache rather than from the WWW. If the page
has been updated since you last accessed it, it will be necessary for you to click the
reload button on your browser to refresh the information. To improve the speed at which
you access Fox Market Wire, it is recommended that your disk and memory cache be
cleared periodically. Memory cache should not be larger than 25% of your computer's RAM.
How do I clear my cache?
If your browser is Internet Explorer 4.0, select
"View" on the browser menu, select "Internet Options" then in the "General" tab in the pop-up menu you will see "Temporary Internet Files." Hit "Delete Files."
If your browser is Netscape Navigator 4.0, select "Edit" on the browser menu, select "Preferences", double-click "Advanced", click "Cache". Finally, click on both "Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear Disk Cache."
Why do I experience distorted graphics when I
connect to Fox Market Wire through America Online?
The Internet Explorer browser used by AOL uses an image
compression method to make your download time shorter. As a result, graphics can appear
fuzzy. This problem may be corrected by following these instructions: select
"Members" from the AOL menu, select "Preferences," click on the
"WWW" icon, select the "Web Graphics" tab from the Internet Properties
window that displays, click click off the "Use compressed graphics" option and
click OK to finish the job. In order for these changes to take effect, it is necessary to
restart the AOL software.
